Whether you’re gallivanting around the globe, a world away from family and friends, or only around the corner, pictures can be a great way to keep in touch. Not only can they be fun and unique, it’s often a lot quicker than that message or phone call you’ve been putting off. Like they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words”, and it’s certainly a lot easier too. Here’s our tips on how to keep in touch with loved ones with just a snap or a click.
Have you ever received a cute, cuddly present from a loved one that you’re not quite sure what to do with? Well, we have the answer. Pop that gift in your bag, whether you’re going on holiday or just going to work, and then take a picture of it during your day. It could be eating lunch with you, hiding in your desk drawer or sipping a cocktail on the beach. Whatever it is, sending a photo of the gift out and about with you not only shows your loved-one that you like the it but also that you’re thinking of them!
This literally takes a matter of seconds. Download a video editing app on your phone and film just one second of your day every day. At the end of the week, the month, or the year, throw all those videos together to make one big video montage. Your friends and family will be able to catch up on a months-worth of your life in just 30 seconds!
Sending post shows that little bit of extra effort of getting in touch with someone, without having to pour your heart out into pages of letters. Go that one step further by printing one of your personal photos and using that as a custom-made postcard. Or, if you want to be extra professional, find an online company to do it for you.
Then and Now Photos
For friends you’ve known a long time, this takes a little extra effort but it’s worth it. Just like Facebook gives you little reminders saying, ‘this was 3 years ago today’, you can do it yourself. Rifle through your old computer files or a good old-fashioned photo album, find a picture with your loved one and paste it next to a recent picture of you together.
Find a picture of you and the person your missing, chop out your faces and put them on the bodies of something else, preferably ridiculous. Body builders, celebrities, animals – whatever! No matter how old you are, there’s something funny about seeing a human head on the body of a chihuahua. You don’t need to be particularly skilled with photoshop for this one either. Sometimes, the worse the photoshop job, the more amusing the picture.
Unless your very, very close friends, this is probably best for family members and partners (so as not to freak out your buddies). Find some amusing photos of yourself, or better yet, you and your loved-one, and turn them into a calendar. That way, they see you all year round!
